Apple mincemeat fingers

2 | cups | All-purpose flour |
1 | teaspoon | Baking soda |
¼ | teaspoon | Salt |
1 | teaspoon | Nutmeg |
2 | cups | Rolled oats |
1 | cup | Brown sugar packed |
1 | Square unsweetened chocolate | |
Melted | ||
2 | tablespoons | Soft butter |
1½ | tablespoon | Milk |
1 | cup | Butter |
3 | cups | Apples peeled & chopped |
1 | cup | Mincemeat |
1 | cup | Nuts chopped |
½ | cup | White sugar |
1 | cup | Icing sugar, sifted |
1 | pinch | Salt |
¼ | teaspoon | Vanilla or 1 tb rum. |
Directions
CHOCOLATE GLAZE
Sift together flour, soda, salt & nutmeg. Add the oats, brown sugar & butter. Mix until grainy. Put ½ mixture in greased pans (two square pans) Spread apples on top then mincemeat. Dot the whole with 3 tb.

Bake at 300 for 1 hr. and 15 minutes. If used, spread glaze while warm.
Origin: Mme Benoit, one of Quebec's popular chefs. Mme Benoit is not known for low-fat recipes. I would make this for Christmas. A great way to use extra mincemeat.
