Applesauce snack cake from mix

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2 cups Snack-cake mix
¾ teaspoon Cloves, divided
½ teaspoon Cinnamon
1 Egg, slightly beaten
3½ tablespoon Shortening
½ cup Applesauce
⅓ cup Sliced almonds
1 teaspoon Sugar

Directions

In 8-inch layer-cake or square pan, stir cake mix, ½ t cloves & cinnamon with rubber spatula until well blended. Stir in egg, shortening & applesauce until well blended. Scrape down sides of pan. Sprinkle evenly with almonds, sugar and remaining ¼ t cloves.

Bake in preheated 375 degree oven 30 minutes. Cool in pan on rack.
