Basic white sauce

2 | tablespoons | Butter (or marg.) |
1½ | tablespoon | Flour, all-purpose; to 2 tb. |
1 | cup | Milk; hot |
¼ | teaspoon | Salt |
⅛ | teaspoon | Pepper, white |
Directions
Put butter in saucepan or small skillet and melt over low heat. Stir it carefully to see that it does not burn. Add flour, a small amount at a time, stirring constantly so that flour does not lump. Stir in milk, and continue stirring until mixture is desired thickness. Add salt and pepper.
