Basic white sauce

1 cup

Ingredients

2 tablespoons Butter (or marg.)
tablespoon Flour, all-purpose; to 2 tb.
1 cup Milk; hot
¼ teaspoon Salt
teaspoon Pepper, white

Directions

Put butter in saucepan or small skillet and melt over low heat. Stir it carefully to see that it does not burn. Add flour, a small amount at a time, stirring constantly so that flour does not lump. Stir in milk, and continue stirring until mixture is desired thickness. Add salt and pepper.
