Directions
Ask an adult to help. Do not peel potatoes. Wash and dry with paper towels.
Cut potatoes in half lengthwise.
Using the pointed end of a bottle opener, apple corer, vegetable peeler or the end of a table knife, carefully carve your initials, numbers or other designs in the rounded sides of the potatoes (ask an adult to help).
Using a cotten-covered swab, a pastry brush or a very small, clean brush, paint the carved-out part with liquid browning sauce.
Put 1 tablespoon butter or margaring into a 8 inch round microwavable dish.
Microwave uncovered on High 15 to 30 seconds or until melted.
Sprinle the flat sides of the potatoes with ¼ teaspoon garlic salt.
Put potatoes with the flat sides down in a circle in the melted margarine.
Microwave uncovered on High 4 minutes. Turn the dish ½ turn, Microwave 2 to 4 minutes longer or until the potatoes are tender when poked with a fork.
Let stand uncovered 5 minutes before serving.
NOTES : If you do not have liquid browning sauce, use molasses (potato my taste a bit sweet). Round, short potatoes will take a little longer to microwave than flat, long potatoes.
