Bread pudding #02

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
10 slices Stale white bread; very thin
3 tablespoons Butter or margarine (up to)
4 Apples
1 Lemon peel; grated
2 Eggs
2 cups Milk

Directions

Grease a baking pan, then spread butter on bread. Peel and slice apples.

Place bread in pan; put apples on top of bread. Sprinkle lemon peel and sugar on the apples. Beat eggs and milk together; pour over apples. Let stand 15 minutes; then bake in preheated 450 degree oven for about 40 minutes or until stiff in center. Serve with lemon cream or lemon sauce.

Vanilla flavoring can be substituted for lemon. Serves 6.
