Classic irish coffee

2 Servings

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
¼ cup Chilled whipping cream
3 teaspoons Sugar
1⅓ cup Hot strong coffee
6 tablespoons (3 oz.) Irish whiskey

Directions

Someone requested some Irish beverage recipes recently, but I can't find that newsletter. Here are 2 recipes from May 1996 Bon Appetit magazine--p.

124, 188. This issue focused totally on the country of Ireland and it's cuisine; I loved it-cover to cover. I must admit that I have a liking for that great Irish beverage export--Bailey's Irish cream (on the rocks);-) Place whipping cream and 2 teaspoons sugar in medium bowl. Whisk until cream holds firm peaks. Refrigerate cream up to 30 minutes. Warm 2 Irish coffee glasses(small glass mugs with handles) or heatproof stemmed glasses by running very hot water into them. Dry quickly. Place ½ teaspoon sugar in each warm glass. Pour in hot coffee and stir to dissolve sugar. Add 3 tablespoons Irish whiskey to each. Spoon chilled cream over coffee in each glass and serve. Posted to KitMailbox Digest by Paula Thompson <paulat@...> on Aug 01, 1997
