So - since I am still trying to learn how to export formatted recipes, I will have to send one that is not formatted. This dish has been my old standby and the answer to "what can I possibly fix in such a short time" for 30 years. It originally was in a Military Wives Cookbook back in the 60's submitted by Mrs. Charles Murray of Newfoundland. It is definitely TNT and has been passed on to all the members of our family.
Saute onion and garlic; add meat and brown. Stir in flour until absorbed; add tomatoes and seasonings. Simmer for 30 minutes. Put corn chips in casserole. Cover with layers of meat mixture, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes.
Yield 4 servings.
Note: Recipe is flexible More people coming than you anticipated? Add a can of tomato sauce (with 2 teaspoons of sugar), and/or a can of chili beans, or double the recipe.
