Fish and chips in beer batter

⅓ | cup | Fresh lemon juice |
½ | Minced large white onion | |

Pepper to taste | ||
6 | mediums | Potatoes |
Vegetable oil | ||
BEER BATTER | ||
½ | cup | Flour |
1 | teaspoon | Paprika |
Cayenne pepper | ||
Malt vinegar (optional) |
Directions
Cut fish into serving pieces & place in flat bowl. Sprinkle fish with lemon juice, onion, salt & pepper to taste, marinate 1 hour. Wash & peel potatoes; cut into strips & rinse in cold water: drain well. Fry potatoes in deep oil heated to 375 until nearly tender; drain & spread on paper towels. Sift together flour, 1 tsp. salt, pepper & cayenne to taste into flat dish; dust fish in flour. Dip fish into beer batter & fry until golden brown & crisp. Refry potatoes until golden brown: drain. Serve with malt vinegar.
