Fluffy vanilla sauce

Ingredients

½ cup Granulated sugar
½ cup Milk
1 Egg, seperated
3 tablespoons Butter
2 tablespoons Flour
½ teaspoon Vanilla
½ cup Whipping cream
Grated nutmeg

Directions

makes about 2 cups Prep time: 20 minutes Cook time: 10 minutes Can be prepared up to three hours ahead.

In top of double boiler, combine sugar, milk, egg yolk, butter and flour. Cook over simmering water, stirring constantly, 10 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat and let cool. Stir in vanilla.

In separate bowls, whip egg white then cream until both hold stiff peaks. Carefully fold first cream then egg white into cooled milk mixture until well combined. Spoon into serving bowl; sprinkle with nutmeg. Refrigerate, covered, for up to 3 hours.
