Wondrous lowfat vanilla sauce for desserts

½ cup Sugar
1 cup Boiling water
1 tablespoon Cornstarch
2 tablespoons Diet unsalted margarine
1 teaspoon Pure vanilla flavoring
1 pinch Salt

Directions

Combine sugar and cornstarch, then gradually stir in the boiling water, stirring for 5 minutes on low heat. Remove from heat and add margarine, vanilla and salt. Serve over Angel Food Cake, lowfat custards and puddings, fat-free pastries, fruit gelatins or fresh fruit, especially bananas, mangos, and other non-citrus fruits. Makes about 1½ cups.
