Fried apple turnovers
10 Servings
Ingredients
Quantity | Ingredient | |
---|---|---|
⅔ | cup | Granulated sugar |
½ | teaspoon | Cinnamon |
¼ | cup | Butter or margarine |
2 | cups | Pared tart apples; sliced |
1 | pack | Refrigerator biscuits |
Icing sugar |
Directions
Combine the granulated sugar, cinnamon, butter and apples in a saucepan.
Simmer this mixture, stirring it occasionally until the apples are tender.
Separate the biscuits and roll each on to an oval shape, about 5 inches long. Place 1 tablespoon of the apple filling on ½ of the oval, then fold the dough over the filling and seal the edges with a fork. (Be sure they are well sealed or the filling will leak out.) Fry the turnovers in 375 oF hot deep fat for about 1 minute or until golden brown, turning them once.
Drain them and sprinkle them with icing sugar, and serve warm. This recipe makes 10 turnovers.
