Mary's apple pie syrup

1 | can | Apple pie filling |
½ | Stick butter; (1/4 cup) | |
¼ | cup | Brown sugar; packed |
¼ | cup | Rum; optional |

Directions
Put pie filling in the blender and pulse until it chopped up, but NOT pureed. Place it in a small sauce pan together with the butter and brown sugar. Bring to a boil; lower heat and simmer for about 10 minutes. Add rum, if desired, and remove from the heat. Serve with pancakes or waffles.
