Mom's big batch sugar cookies

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 cup Butter; NO substitutes
2 cups Sugar
4 larges Island eggs
2 tablespoons Half and half
5 cups All-purpose flour
4 teaspoons Baking powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Nutmeg; freshly grated
2 teaspoons Lime juice
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Directions

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs and half and half. Add flour, which has been sifted with baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add lime juice and vanilla extract. Mix well. Chill dough overnight OR for at least three hours. Divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll out one piece at a time on a floured board. Leave the remaining dough in the fridge until you're ready to roll it out. Cut the thinly rolled dough with cookie cutters, and bake at 350 degrees on an ungreased cookie sheet for about 8 minutes until golden. Do not let cookies brown.

Decorate with colored sugar, cookie frosting, nuts, raisins, candied fruit or whatevers.
