Mulled apple or pear cider medieval

2 | quarts | Fresh apple cider or pear juice |
¼ | teaspoon | Nutmeg |
1 | tablespoon | Finely crushed sweet basil |
⅛ | teaspoon | Thyme |
½ | teaspoon | Ginger powder |
7 | eaches | Sticks cinnamon |
Directions
GARNISH
In a large enameled pot, gently simmer the juice with the spices for 7 minutes.
Break the cinnamon sticks, placing a portion in each tankard or chalice or glass. Pour on warmed cider. Sprinkle sweet basil sparingly on top.
