Salad with surprise topping

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
Mixture of lettuces; (mesclun) or ... use spinach and strawberries or raspberries
¼ cup White sugar
½ tablespoon Poppy seeds
¼ teaspoon Paprika
½ cup Vegetable oil
¼ cup Raspberry vinegar
2 teaspoons Finely chopped onion
¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
½ cup Slivered almonds
¼ cup White sugar
2 teaspoons Water

SURPRISE TOPPING

And the surprise you've been waiting for ...

Surprise Topping: Combine topping ingredients in large frying pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sugar melts to golden brown and coats almonds (about 5 min.) Turn onto greased foil. Cool, then break up into small pieces.

Just before serving salad, pour dressing over and top with topping.

(you can prepare a few batches of almonds and keep in a safe place .. but it somehow disappears!)
