1 | cup | Dried chickpeas |
1 | teaspoon | Ground tumeric |
1 | teaspoon | Ground cumin |
½ | teaspoon | Red pepper powder |

Directions
Sort and wash the chickpeas. Place the chickpeas in a bowl with enough water to cover. Soak for 8 hours or overnight. Drain. Place the chickpeas in a large, heavy saucepan. Add enough water to cover by 2". Bring to a boil. Add the tumeric. Cover and simmer for 1½ to 2 hours, or until the chickpeas are tender to the bite. Drain the chickpeas while hot. In a bowl combine the chickpeas, cumin, red pepper powder and lime juice to taste. Add salt if desired. Can be made 1 day in advance. Refrigerate. Serve at room temperature. 203 calories and 3 grams fat.
