Vinegar pudding

Ingredients

2 | cups | Flour (all-purpose) |
1 | teaspoon | Ginger or mixed spice |
¾ | cup | Sugar |
9 | ounces | Butter |
3 | teaspoons | Jam or marmalade |
1½ | teaspoon | Bicarbonate of soda |
1¼ | cup | Sugar |
3 | teaspoons | Vinegar |
1¼ | cup | Boiling water |

SYRUP
Do try this, even though the idea of vinegar in pud might sound odd. It's very good. It was taken from a collection of Round Table recipes submitted by Table members and tried by a panel of judges before publication.
Mix dry ingredients. Mix jam and melted butter and add to dry ingredients.
Melt sugar in boiling water and add vinegar. Place spoonfuls of mixture into syrup (in large pyrex dish) and bake at 350F for about 45 minutes.
Serve hot with custard.
