Baked herring and potatoes

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
6 Salt herring fillets
3 tablespoons Butter
4 Boiled potatoes -- peeled
And sliced
2 Onions -- sliced
2 tablespoons Dry bread crumbs

Directions

Soak the herring overnight in cold water to cover. Drain and cut into 1-inch pieces. Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a baking dish. Arrange layers of the potatoes, herring and onions in it, starting and ending with the potatoes. Sprinkle with the bread crumbs and dot with remaining butter.
