1 cup Sifted all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons Sugar
teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Salt
cup Yellow corn meal
2 tablespoons Shortening
1 Slightly beaten egg
¾ cup Milk
1 pounds (8 to 10) frankfurters

Directions

Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in corn meal. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Combine egg and milk; add to corn meal mixture, stirring until well blended. Insert wooden skewer into end of each frank. Spread franks evenly with batter. Fry in deep hot oil (375øF.) until brown, 4 to 5 minutes. Serve with catsup and mustard.
