Chicken stewed with apples ^

Ingredients

Salt and pepper to taste | ||
¼ | cup | Oil |
1 | Onion, sliced | |
2 | Stalks celery, sliced | |
2 | larges | Apples, peeled, cored and sliced |
2 | tablespoons | Flour |
1½ | cup | Chicken brolth or water |
Pinch thyme | ||
Pinch marjoram | ||
Boiled rice |
Directions
Season chicken with salt and pepper. heat 3 tablespoons oil in deep frying pan. Add chicken, a few pieces at a time, and brown well.
Remove from pan. Saute onion, celery and apples in same frying pan for 5 minutes; remove from pan. Add remaining tablespoon oil to pan.
Stir in flour, mixing well. Gradually add broth or water, stirring until boiling. Return chicken, vegetables and apples to sauce. Add thyme, marjoram, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer for 1 hour or until chicken is te To serve, put some boiled rice on large serving platter. Arrange chicken pieces ontop and pour on sauce.
