2 | cups | Light corn syrup |
⅓ | cup | Cinnamon candies |
1 | cup | Cold water |
2 | teaspoons | Red food coloring |
½ | teaspoon | Cinnamon |
6 | mediums | Red delicious apples |
6 | eaches | Wooden skewers |
Directions
In a medium saucepan combine sugar, corn syrup and cinnamon candies with cold water. Stirring constantly, cook just until sugr and candies are dissolved; do not boil. Add food coloring and cinnamon; stir to mix well. Bring syrup to a boil; continue cooking, without stirring, to 300F. on candy thermometer. Meanwhile, wash apples and dry well. Remove stem and place a wooden skewer in far enough to hold apple firmly. remove syrup from heat. Working quickly, dip each apple into syrup to coat caompletely. Place, skewer end up, on a cookie sheet that has been sprayed with Pam. Let taffy harden. Let stand at room temperature until they are ready to serve.
