Herb and sausage orzo

½ | cup | Finely-chopped onion |
1 | tablespoon | Finely-chopped garlic |
1 | cup | Orzo pasta -; (1/2 lb) |

Freshly-ground black pepper; to taste | ||
¼ | cup | Assorted chopped fresh herbs |
(such as basil; parsley, and thyme) | ||
3½ | cup | Chicken stock |
¼ | cup | Chopped smoked sausage |
1 | tablespoon | Unsalted butter; softened |
Directions
Heat oil in a saucepan and add onions, garlic, orzo, salt and pepper. Cook, stirring constantly, 2 minutes. Stir in herbs and stock and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook, stirring occasionally, about 20 minutes. Remove pan from heat and stir in sausage and butter. This recipe yields ?? servings.
