Kohlrabi kebabs

12 | smalls | Kohlrabi bulbs, peeled |
1 | tablespoon | Sesame oil |
1 | tablespoon | Brown rice syrup |
2 | tablespoons | Water |
2 | tablespoons | Sherry |
½ | cup | Black bean paste |
Directions
Preheat the broiler.
Fill a large pot with water & bring to a boil. Parboil the kohlrabies until heated through, about 5 minutes. Drain.
Place 3 bulbs on each of 4 skewers & brush with oil. Place the skewers under a broiler until tender, about 8 minutes, rotating every two minutes. Remove & set aside.
In a small bowl, combine syrup, water, sherry & black bean paste.
Brush liberally over the kohlrabies & return to the broiler. Remove when the paste is dry & has formed a glaze. Serve over boiled rice, sprinkled with slivered almonds.
