Lithuanian sauerkraut supper

1 | small | Onion, diced |
½ | Head cabbage, chopped fine | |
2 | smalls | Apples, diced |
3 | tablespoons | Brown sugar |
1½ | teaspoon | Caraway seed |
1 | large | Can sauerkraut |
½ | cup | Water |
2 | pounds | Any smoked sausage, cut up |
Into 2-inch pieces |
Directions
Fry bacon until crisp; add onion. Fry onion until golden brown. Chop fresh cabbage; add ½ cup water and simmer until cabbage is soft.
Add diced apples, caraway seed and brown sugar. Now add the sauerkraut. Mix well; add the smoked sausage and cook all the ingredients for 1 hour or bake in the oven for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
