Meal in a pepper

Nonstick Cooking Spray | ||
1 | tablespoon | Ground Sirloin or Turkey |
½ | cup | Finely chopped onions |
16 | ounces | Can Tomatoes, Chopped, Undrained |
½ | cup | Long grain rice |
½ | cup | Water |
¼ | teaspoon | Salt |
¼ | teaspoon | Pepper |
1½ | tablespoon | Worcestershire sauce |
½ | teaspoon | Dried oregano, crushed |
¾ | cup | Grated, mozzarella cheese |
Directions
Halve peppers lengthwise. Clean. Cook peppers in boiling water for 3 minutes. Drain and sprinkle insides with a little salt.
Spray a skillet with nonstick cooking spray. Cook hamburg or turkey and onion until onion is tender. Drain well.
Stir in tomatoes (undrained), uncooked rice, ½ c water, salt and pepper, worcestershire and oregano. Bring to a boil Cover and simmer for 20 min or until rice is tender. Stir in ½ of the cheese.
Fill peppers with mixture.
Put in baking dish and bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with remaining cheese.
Remarks: These freeze very well.
