Minestra of rice and cabbage

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
½ Small head cabbage; cut
1 small (3/4-inch diameter)
1 quart Boiling water
2 To 3 oz raw ham; chopped
½ cup Canned tomatoes
¼ cup Long grain white rice
1 teaspoon Salt
Soy sauce
1 Stalk celery; chopped fine

Directions

Saute ham and celery for 5 minutes. Add ham, celery and rice to water; cook until rice is almost done. Add cabbage, cook until tender. Just before completion, add tomatoes and salt. Serve with soy sauce.
