Mom's macaroni & cheese

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
8 ounces Macaroni, elbow
2 cups Cheese, sharp cheddar
¼ cup Butter
¼ cup Flour
2 cups Milk
2 eaches Eggs
1 teaspoon Salt
teaspoon Pepper

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cook macaroni according to package directions. In baking dish alternate macaroni & grated cheese in layers, ending with cheese. Mix other ingredients and pour over same. Bake 20-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust is browned and bubbly.

(This was one of my favorite dishes as a child. I don't remember ever watching my mother measure any of the ingredients for this dish. But this is the recipe she sent me after I moved out-of-state and called home wanting some of her recipes. Also she always baked this in a large cast iron skillet.)
