SEASONING BLEND
REST
Thank you all for your help! I was desparate for a bowl of chili and didn't have any chili powder on-hand -- I haven't been able to find any locally without additives like msg. Luckily, my desparate attempt for chili was a big success, even my husband and kids liked it -- and it's hard to please them all! If anyone would like my recipe, here it is! Cook about 2 cups dried anasazi beans with cumin, fresh chopped garlic, and olive oil. When cooked, add salt, stir, then drain.
Mix seasoning blend in small bowl.
Rinse bean pot and brown 1 small package Jimmy Dean Hot sausage. Drain and put beans and sausage back in pot. Add small can (~ 8 oz) whole tomatoes and same size can tomato sauce and about 3/4C water. Add seasoning blend, fresh chopped garlic, and several chopped green onions. Add a few shakes of crushed red pepper flakes, stir then simmer.
