Never fail pound cake

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2 Sticks butter or margarine
6 Eggs
3 cups Flour
¼ teaspoon Baking powder
1 teaspoon Lemon juice
½ cup Crisco shortening
3 cups Sugar
¼ teaspoon Salt
1 cup Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla

Directions

Grease one large tube pan. Cream together butter & shortening, add eggs one at a time, beating well. Add sugar a little at a time until all is added.

Sift flour, salt & baking powder & alternate adding mixture & milk to the creamed mixture until all is added. Add vanilla & lemon juice & beat well.

Turn oven on to 350& put cake in immediately--no preheating necessary.

Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes. Remember, ovens vary--check after 1 hour.
