2 | cups | Unsifted flour |
½ | teaspoon | Baking powder |
1 | teaspoon | Baking soda |
¼ | teaspoon | Salt |
3½ | cup | Chocolate chips (21 oz) |
½ | cup | Butter |
⅓ | cup | Frozen orange juice concent. |
3 | larges | Eggs |
1 | cup | Sugar |
1 | teaspoon | Orange zest |
Directions
Line bottom of 9x13x2 inch pan with parchment or foil. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In medium bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; set aside. Melt 2 cups milk chocolate chips with butter and orange juice concentrate in top of double boiler over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. If mixture separates or lookes curdled, beat or whisk until smooth, remove from heat; set aside. In large mixing bowl, beat eggs with sugar until ight. Stir in grated orange zest and melted chocolate mixture until uniform. Add dry ingredients just until combined and stir in remaining 1-½ cups milk chocolate chips. Pour into prepared pan and bake 45-50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centre still has moist crumbs on it.
It is best not to overbake. For best flavour and texture, allow orangies to cool overnight before cutting. Orangies freeze well.
Microwave Instructions: ~---------------------- Heat milk chocolate chips, butter, and orange juice concentrate in medium microproof bowl at medium power for 2-3 minutes, stirring well after 2 minutes initially, then heating and stirring at 30 second intervals, as required, until smooth. Proceed as directed.
Yield: 24 medium (2 inch) squares.
