Our family's swiss steak

Ingredients

1½ | pounds | Beef top round steak (1/2\" thick), cut into serving sized pieces |
4 | cups | Sliced onions |
2 | Jars (4.5 oz) Green Giant whole mushrooms, drained | |
1 | can | (10 1/2 oz) condensed beef broth |
¼ | teaspoon | Salt |
⅛ | teaspoon | Pepper |
½ | cup | Water |
4 | tablespoons | Cornstarch |
Directions
The following recipe is definitely a TNT! I got it from Pillsbury "Good For You Dinners" - Sept 96. To my Texas heart, this is good home cookin'!! Serve it over mashed potatoes - umm umm good!! Heat oven to 325 degrees. In large oven proof baking dish, combine all ingredients except water and cornstarch; mix well. Cover.
Bake for 2½ - 3 hours or until beef is tender.
In small bowl, combine water & cornstarch; stir into beef mixture. Bake an additional 15 minutes or until gravy has thickened.
Note: This is my version as I have changed the recipe by doubling everything but the beef and the salt & pepper - we LOVE gravy at our house!!
