Pecan delights

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
12¼ cup Brown sugar, packed
1 cup Butter/margarine
1 cup Light corn syrup
teaspoon Salt
14 ounces Sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
pounds Pecans, whole
1 cup Semisweet chocolate chips,
(6 oz.)
1 cup Milk chocolate chips,
(6 oz)
2 tablespoons Shortening

Directions

In a large saucepan, combine the first four ingredients. Cook over medium heat until all sugar is dissolved. Gradually add milk and mix well. Continue cooking until candy thermometer reads 248 degrees (firm ball stage). Remove from heat; stir in vanilla until blended.

Fold in pecans. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto a waxed paper-lined cookie sheet. Chill until firm. Melt chocolate chips and shortening in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler. Drizzle over each cluster. Cool. Yield: about 4 dozen Submitted By MARIE CULVER On 02-05-95 (1314)
