Savoury crescents

1 servings

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
5 cups Unbleached bread flour
1 tablespoon Yeast
2 tablespoons Soy flour
1 teaspoon Salt
3 tablespoons Sunflower or peanut oil
1 tablespoon Beehive Co honey* or sugar
2 cups Warm water
Fillings of your choice

Directions

Add all dry ingredients to a large mixing bowl and stir. Add oil, water and honey and mix to a sticky dough. Turn out onto a well floured work surface and begin to knead. Continue kneading until the dough is soft and elastic.

Shape the dough into a round form and place in an oiled bowl, to rise until doubled in size. This should take about one hour.

Once risen, turn the dough out onto a floured bench top and roll with a rolling pin, to a rectangular shape about 1cm. thick. With a sharp knife, cut the dough in half or thirds, then cut each strip into triangles.

Sprinkle about 2 cups of filling (tasty cheese, chopped onions, capsicums, sundried tomatoes, herbs, mushrooms, salami or any other preferred filling of your choice) over the entire surface of the dough, then roll up from the base towards the point. Place the crescents on a greased oven tray and brush with a lightly beaten egg. Sprinkle any remaining filling on top of the crescents and allow to rise until doubled, about 40 minutes.

Bake at 200c. for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
