Sharon's chow mein

Ingredients

½ | each | Head cabbage, sliced very thin |
1 | large | Onion, sliced in thin strips |
4 | eaches | Stalks celery, cut thinly on diagonal |
Mushrooms, sliced | ||
1 | pack | Noodles (dry steamed) |
Bean sprouts, rinsed and drained | ||
1 | teaspoon | Sugar |
½ | cup | Water |
Sesame oil | ||
Leftover chicken or beef, slice in thin strips | ||
2 | eaches | Green onions, chopped |
Soya sauce, to taste |
Directions
In large Dutch oven, saute the onion, celery and cabbage with the tsp sugar until just shiny. Add mushrooms. Add the bean sprouts, dry noodles and ½ cup water. Cover pot, and lower heat to lowest setting. Allow to steam until noodles are soft, and sprouts are tender crisp. Sprinkle sliced meat and chopped green onions on top, and serve.
