Streusel kaffeekuchen (coffee cake)

Ingredients

½ cup Brown sugar
2 tablespoons Flour
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
2 tablespoons Melted butter
½ cup Chopped nuts
¼ cup Shortening
¾ cup Sugar
¼ cup Salt
cup Flour
3 teaspoons Baking powder
1 Egg
cup Milk
1 teaspoon Vanilla

CAKE BATTER

STREUSEL: Mix ingredients.

CAKE: Sift flour, measure and sift 3 times with sugar, salt and baking powder. Cut the shortening into the flour mixture with a pastry blender or two knives. To the well beaten egg, add the milk and vanilla and stir this into flour mixture.

Pour ½ of the batter into a greased pan 6x10-inches. Sprinkle with ½ of the streusel mixture; add the remaining batter, and top with the other half of the streusel. Bake at 350ø F. 25 minutes.
