Apples and sweet potatoes with maple syrup

Water; boiling | ||
1½ | pounds | Apples, baking; (3 lg.) |
2 | tablespoons | Butter (or marg.) |
¾ | cup | Syrup, maple; or maple-flvrd |
1/16 | teaspoon | Salt |
Directions
Wash sweet potatoes and cookin enough boiling water to cover in a covered saucepan 20 to 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
Remove potatoes from water; peel when they are cool enough to handle.
Cut into crosswise slices ¼ inch thick.
Wash, peel, quarter, core, and slice apples ⅛" thick. Place half the sweet potatoes in a 1-½ quart casserole. Top with half the apples, half the butter, and half the syrup mixed with salt. Repeat, using remaining ingredients. Cover. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove cover and cook 10 minutes. Serve hot.
