¼ | cup | Cider vinegar |
¼ | cup | Butter or margarine |
2 | tablespoons | Sugar |
2 | tablespoons | Worcestershire sauce |
1 | tablespoon | Prepared mustard |
1½ | teaspoon | Salt |
½ | teaspoon | Black pepper |
¼ | teaspoon | Red pepper |
1 | slice | Lemon; thick |
1 | slice | Onion; thick |
½ | cup | Catsup |
Directions
Recipe by: Fannie Flagg's Original Whistle Stop Cafe Cookbook Combine all ingredients except catsup in a heavy medium saucepan; bring to a boil, stirring frequently. Reduce heat and simmer, partially covered, for 20 mins. Remove from heat; discard lemon and onion slices, and stir in catsup. YIELD: 1½ cups NOTES: You may add a tiny drop of liquid smoke if you like a smokey flavor
