Butter fruit cobbler

Ingredients

1 | quart | Strawberries |
1 | medium | Pineapple, fresh |
2 | tablespoons | Lemon juice |
1½ | cup | Cake flour, sifted |
¼ | teaspoon | Salt |
½ | cup | Margarine |
4 | tablespoons | Water, cold |
2 | tablespoons | Flour |
½ | cup | Sugar |
Directions
Wash berries thoroughly with cold water before hulling them. Slice and peel pineapple and cut into wedges. Combine fruits and add lemon juice. Mix lightly then place in refrigerator while mixing crust.
Sift flour, measure 1½ cups and resift with the salt. Add butter and cut in with pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture has texture of rice grains. Add cold water a few drops at a time, tossing with fork until dry ingredients are just dampened.
Form into round patty and roll out on lightly floured board. Cut into fancy shapes with cookie cutter.
Butter the casserole, turn the fruit into it, and sprinkle with 2 tbs flour mixed into the sugar. Arrange the rolled pastry on top in any desired arrangement..Bake in a very hot oven, 450 F. for 15 minutes, until the crust is golden brown. Serve either warm or cold.
