Chunky pickle slices

4 | quarts | Medium cucumbers, unpeeled, sliced 1/4-1/2\" thick |
6 | cups | White onions, sliced |
1⅔ | cup | Green peppers, sliced |
3 | Garlic cloves | |
⅓ | cup | Pickling salt |
Cracked ice | ||
4 | cups | Sugar |
3 | cups | Cider vinegar |
2 | tablespoons | Mustard seed |
1½ | teaspoon | Turmeric |
1½ | teaspoon | Celery seed |
Directions
Combine the cucumbers, onions, green peppers, garlic and salt in a large container, cover with the cracked ice; mix well. Let mixture stand for 3 hours; drain well and remove garlic. Combine the remaining ingredients and pour over the cucumber mixture. Bring to a boil. Pack cucumbers and liquid into hot jars, leaving ½" head space.
