Date nut bars

Ingredients

1 | cup | All-purpose flour |
2 | teaspoons | Baking powder |
¼ | teaspoon | Salt |
1 | cup | Chopped dates |
1 | cup | Chopped walnuts |
5 | Eggs; separated | |
1 | cup | C and H Brown Sugar; packed |
1 | teaspoon | Vanilla |
C and H Powdered Sugar |
Directions
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in bowl. Add dates and nuts and toss until well-coated and separated. Set aside. Beat egg yolks until thick (about 3 minutes). Gradually beat in sugar and vanilla.
Blend in date-nut mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff; fold into batter. Pour into 15 by 10 by 1 inch greased and floured pan.
Spread evenly. Bake in 325 degree oven 30 minutes until light brown.
Cool. Cut into 48 bars and roll in powdered sugar.
