Green goddess salad dressing

1 | cup | Mayonaise |
½ | cup | Commercial sour cream |
⅓ | cup | Finely minced parsley |
3 | tablespoons | Finely minced chives or green onions |
3 | tablespoons | Anchovy paste or finely minced anchovies |
3 | tablespoons | Tarragon wine vinegar |
1 | tablespoon | Lemon juice |
1 | Clove garlic; crushed or grated | |
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste | ||
2 | cups dressing. |
Directions
Combine all ingredients. Chill; it mellows and thickens on standing. Makes I found this recipe in an old Betty Crocker cookbook and it says, "Most popular at a large San Francisco hotel. Especially delicious on salad greens and sea food. For a milder flavored thicker dressing ,omit vinegar.
