Holiday fruit compote

Quantity Ingredient
¼ cup Port wine
1 tablespoon Butter
cup Sugar
1 tablespoon Lemon peel -- grated
teaspoon Cinnamon
teaspoon Nutmeg
4 mediums Apples -- peeled and sliced
2 cups Fresh cranberries
½ cup Dates -- chopped and pitted
cup Walnuts -- chopped
Dairy sour cream or ice
Cream

Directions

In slow-cooking pot, combine wine, butter, sukgar, lemon peel, and spices.

Add apples and cranberriess. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours. Stir in dates and walnuts. Serve warm or cold. Delicious with topping of sour cream or used as a sundae sauce for ice cream.
