Key lime pie - house beautiful

Ingredients

cup Graham cracker crumbs
¼ cup Sugar
4 Eggs, separated
1 can (14-oz) sweetened condensed milk
½ cup Key lime juice
cup Butter, melted
2 teaspoons Grated lime zest
½ teaspoon Cream of tartar
cup Sugar

Directions

FOR GRAHAM CRACKER CRUST

FOR FILLING

Prepare crust: Combine all ingredients for crust. Using the back of a large spoon, press crumb mixture firmly on bottom of a 9-inch pie dish. Bake crust for 6 to 8 minutes in a preheated 375'F oven. Remove and allow to cool.

Prepare filling: In a medium-size bowl, whisk yolks until pale in color. Stir in the condensed milk. Fold in the Key Lime juice and lime zest. In a small bowl, stiffly beat 1 egg white and fold it into the lime mixture. Transfer mixture to prepared piecrust.

In a medium-size bowl, beat the remaining egg whites with cream of tartar until frothy. Add sugar 1 T at a time, beating until stiff but not dry. Spread on top of pie. Bake pie until the meringue is golden in a preheated 350'F oven for about 20 minutes. Cool and chill before serving. Serves 8.
