Meatballs and shells stew

½ | pounds | Ground beef |
¼ | cup | Uncooked long-grain rice |
1 | Egg, beaten | |
⅛ | teaspoon | Black pepper |
2½ | cup | Water |
1 | can | (14 1/2 oz.) whole tomatoes, broken up |
1 | Envelope ( 1 oz.) onion soup mix | |
½ | teaspoon | Italian seasoning |
¼ | teaspoon | Dried thyme leaves |
¼ | teaspoon | Garlic powder |
½ | cup | Small shell pasta |
Directions
In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, rice, egg and black pepper. Shape into 1 inch meatballs and place on a baking sheet or piece of waxed paper; set aside.
In a medium saucepan, combine water, tomatoes, onion soup mix, Italian seasoning, thyme and garlic powder. Bring to a boil. Carefully drop the meatballs into the boiling stew mixture and gently stir in shell pasta.
