1 | large | Onion, diced |
2 | larges | Tomatoes, diced (canned tomatoes work just as well) |
1 | cup | Ketchup |
½ | cup | Worcestershire sauce |
2 | Cloves of garlic, finely chopped | |
¾ | cup | Chutney (up to 1) |
½ | cup | Brown sugar |
2 | tablespoons | Vinegar |
1 | teaspoon | Tabasco sauce |
½ | cup | Water |
Directions
Recipe for Monkey Gland Steak, a very popular South African dish. Don't worry, it's only a name, the monkeys are safe. But it is fun to use on your guests. As a former South African I can vouch for this recipe. My family and friends love it!
In a heavy skillet, heat oil. Saute onions and garlic until soft. Add remaining ingredients, mix well and simmer for a few minutes. Fry the steaks separately. When done frying spoon the sauce over the steaks. Serve with rice.
