Mother's port wine sauce

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
½ cup Sugar
2 tablespoons Corn startch
dash Salt
1 cup Boiling water
1 Stick cinnamon (opt)
½ cup Port wine
1 tablespoon Butter
Juice of 1/2 lemon
2 Or 3 lemonslices
Several dashes nutmeg
Few drops red cake coloring

Directions

Mix sugar, starch, salt and water. Cook and stir well. When mixture thickens add butter, wine, lemon juice, nutmeg, lemon slices and cinnamon stick. Stir well. This sauce may be served over custards, puddings, or plain cakes.

It is better if you let it set for several hours.
