1 | Shallot or onion, minced | |
2 | teaspoons | Butter |
½ | cup | Fine bread crumbs |
½ | teaspoon | Oregano |
¼ | teaspoon | Thyme |
¼ | teaspoon | Black pepper |
½ | teaspoon | Salt |
¼ | teaspoon | Hot pepper sauce |
1 | large | Egg, beaten |
1 | tablespoon | Tomato paste |
½ | pounds | Lean, ground beef |
½ | cup | Shredded mozzarella |
Directions
Mince together garlic and shallot. Melt butter in medium skillet.
Add garlic and shallot, and saute until shallot is trnaslucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in bread crumbs. Remove from heat. Mix in oregano, thyme, pepper, salt, hot pepper sauce, egg, and tomato paste. Add bread crubm mixture to ground beef and gently mix in.
Spread half the meat mixture in loaf pan. Sprinkle with cheese, and gently spread remaining meat mixture over the top. Bake 350 45 mins--let stand 5 mins before serving.
