Pepper cake

Ingredients

| 1 | cup | Sugar |
| ½ | cup | Butter or margarine |
| 3 | Eggs beaten | |
| 1 | teaspoon | Rum flavor |
| 1 | teaspoon | Vanilla flavor |
| 1½ | cup | Flour |
| ½ | teaspoon | Black pepper |
| ½ | teaspoon | Salt |
| 1 | cup | Dates chopped |
| 1 | cup | Walnuts chopped |
Directions
Cream butter and sugar fluffy. Beat in eggs and flavorings. Mix together, flour, pepper and salt. Blend flour mixture into creamed mixture. Mix in dates and nuts. Pour into a greased 8 x 8 inch pan.
Bake 275 ( correct ) 45 minutes or tested done.Sift with confectioners sugar while warm.
