2 | pounds | Steak, round; cut 1/2\" thick |
¼ | cup | Flour |
1 | teaspoon | Salt |
¼ | teaspoon | Black pepper |
3 | tablespoons | Shortening |
1 | cup | Catsup |
½ | cup | Water |
1 | Orange; unpeeled, thinly sliced | |
1 | medium | Onion; thinly sliced |
1 | Lemon; unpeeled, thinly sliced | |
6 | Cloves, whole |
Directions
Cut steak into 6 serving-size pieces. Combine flour, salt, and pepper; pound into steak. Brown steak in hot shortening. Arrange steak in baking dish. Combine catsup and water and pour over meat.
Place orange slices on top of meat; top with onion slices, then lemon slices. Stick a whole clove in each stack. Cover dish and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
