Tex-mex strata

6 | slices | Bread, toasted Butter or margarine |
1 | pounds | Hot breakfast or Italian bulk sausage |
12 | ounces | Cheddar cheese, grated |
6 | ounces | Jalapeno cheese, sliced |
6 | Eggs, beaten | |
2 | cups | Milk Warmed tortillas, picante sauce and sour cream |
Directions
Toast bread. Trim crusts and butter each slice. Grease an 8x11-inch baking pan. Place bread slices, buttered-side down, in pan.
Cook sausage, breaking it up as it cooks; drain. Spread sausage evenly over bread slices. Top with grated cheddar cheese, then slices of jalapeno cheese.
In large bowl, beat eggs and milk; pour mixture over cheese. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
In the morning, preheat oven to 350 F. Keep mixture covered and bake 35 minutes. Remove cover and bake another 10 minutes, or until firm.
Remove from oven and let sit 10 minutes before serving. Serve with warm tortillas, picante sauce and sour cream. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
